John Cameron served in the Royal Navy from 1943-1947, as a radar plot operator, mainly on navigation. Initially served aboard the destroyer. HMS Brilliant, until it struck a mine and was badly damaged in the English Channel. Then drafted to a cruiser, HMS Superb, flagship of the 2nd Cruiser Squadron for a 2 year commision in the Mediterranean, based mainly at Malta.

Married at St. Clements Church, Leigh on Sea, Essex, on September 19, 1953.

Finally retired at the age of 70, having spent the last 20 years, or so, as a senior clothing buyer for a private company, Retail Menswear, with branches in and around the London area.
