Brief History

Spencer Henry was called up in 1942.  Although asking to be taken as a writer into the Royal Navy, he was forced to join the Royal Marine Commando Unit. He was of an age when he should have avoided this, for he was doing the tough SAS training with young lads who had stamina.  Nevertheless, he survived and saw action in Belgium, Holland, France and Germany.  He was awarded a citation by the Belgian people.  Sadly, the documant was stolen.  Spence Henry attained the rank of sergeant and was training to be an officer.  It had been intended to post him to Japan.  Fortunately, the war ended before he could be sent.
